Do I need testing for chlamydia or gonorrhea?

Treatment Available: Chlamydia is treated with antibiotics.  Antibiotic treatment, if taken exactly as directed, normally cures chalmydia infections.  If antibiotics are not taken properly, the infection will not be cured.  All sexual partners need to be tested and treated as well.  Having Chlamydia once does not prevent you from becoming infected in the future.  Continuing symptoms of Chlamydia after treatment are usually attributed to a new exposure rather than failure of treatment.

Symptoms of Chlamydia:

Female

Male

  • abnormal vaginal discharge
  • burning during urination
  • pelvic pain
  • bleeding between periods or after sexual intercourse
  • clear or yellow discharge from the penis
  • burning during urination
  • irritation or itching in the urethra
